So, we got some news last night: RESISTOR_ didn’t make it into IndieCade. This is good and bad news for us.
Let’s go with the obvious first: the bad. It’s bad news because I’ve heard IndieCade is an INCREDIBLE event, and it would have been awesome to exhibit our very first time going. Beyond just the exposure – which would have been huge! – it’s full of great people and panels and opportunities. Not to mention so many of our friends (new and old!) are going, and after being with so many wonderful people at PAX Prime, I really wanted to keep riding that high. Oh, and, you know, we could have gotten TONS more people playing our game, which is the whole point.
The good, while not as obvious, is just as important: we need a break, in every sense of the word. We’re tired and need to grocery shop and do laundry and our bank accounts really need some time to replenish. We’ve also gotten tons of feedback from the jurors at both Boston FIG and IndieCade, and it’s clear that our instructions really, really need to be worked on. Having this time to not have to prep and order plane tickets and scramble to find a place to stay will be good for us!
Don’t get me wrong: I want to go to IndieCade and be in that amazing atmosphere. But this will give us a chance to fix things that need to get fixed before we (eee!) launch our Kickstarter. There’s so much work to be done, and if we’re going to do it, we need the time to do it. And I’ll be selfish: I seriously need some time to play some games, because that beautiful activity has gotten lost in the shuffle.
Thank you so much to all of you for your help, support, and friendship. If you’re around over the next month, and want to do some blind testing of our rules and give us some feedback, that would be MUCH appreciated. We need some constructive criticism now more than ever. Please hit us up if you want to be involved at cardboardfortress games (at) gmail (dot) com.
